• Students will understand that metacognitive thinking helps us assess our learning and progress so we can grow and improve in future endeavors.

• Students will understand that an effective presentation requires careful planning and rehearsing.

Activities

• Introduce

  • Write a six word story that represents your project.

    • Consider the intent of your project, the result, the primary emotion you feel when you think about your project (or a range of emotions) - and then boil it down to a story of exactly six words.

  • Review six word story and Part IV syllabus with Nancy

• Expose and Practice

  • Complete Service Learning Reflection

  • Discuss your service learning project with Nancy - how did it go?

    • Compare finished project with initial proposal and action plan

• Create (DOK)

  • Use outline to plan a 5-minute presentation (in Google Classroom)

    • Create a visual (PowerPoint, Prezi, Poster, etc) to help structure your presentation

  • Rehearse presentation with Nancy

  • Give presentation to school and community members

• Reflect

  • Debrief project and presentation with Nancy

  • Fill out Service Learning survey
