SIAS LMS Test Drive

Background

In pursuit of enhancing our institution's digital learning capabilities, the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning is hosting a pilot testing of the SIAS LMS entitled "SIAS LMS Test Drive: Shaping the Future of Learning" on February 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM - 12:00 NN via Zoom Meeting. This training workshop aims to ensure a smooth transition into a technology-driven learning environment by empowering faculty members with the knowledge and skills to navigate and integrate the SIAS LMS into their instructional strategies. Additionally, it will allow us to gather valuable insights and feedback to optimize the system before full-scale implementation.

Rationale

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the integration of technology into teaching and learning has become essential. The SIAS Learning Management System (LMS) is designed to streamline digital instruction, enhance collaboration, and improve learning outcomes. To ensure a smooth transition and effective implementation, it is crucial for faculty members to gain hands-on experience and practical insights into the system.

This training workshop serves as a test pilot, equipping select faculty members from the College of Technologies with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and utilize SIAS LMS efficiently. Through interactive demonstrations and guided practice, participants will explore key features, instructional tools, and best practices for integrating the LMS into their teaching. This initiative not only fosters digital competency among educators but also strengthens the university's commitment to innovative and technology-driven education.

Objectives

At the end of the training, the participants are expected to:

Understand the Core Features - familiarize themselves with the SIAS LMS interface, tools, and functionalities.
Navigate the System Efficiently - learn how to manage courses, upload materials, and engage students through digital platforms.
Apply Interactive Teaching Strategies - utilize SIAS LMS to create engaging and student-centered learning experiences.
Troubleshoot Basic Issues - identify and resolve common technical challenges encountered while using the system.
Provide Feedback for the System Improvement - share insights and recommendations to enhance the LMS based on their experience during the test pilot phase.

Expected Outcome

Equip faculty with the skills to effectively use SIAS LMS, ensure a successful test pilot, enhance digital teaching strategies, gather feedback for system improvement, and support the university's transition to technology-driven learning.

The training workshop is open to select faculty of the College of Technologies.
