As Bigee and Kai-Lou hiked toward the Ancient Forest portal, they heard a swish in the bushes. Bigee and Kai-Lou turned their heads sharply.
“Who is there?” Bigee yelled.
“Show yourself!” Kai-Lou added.
Shing! Whoosh!
Two arrows flashed right in front of Bigee and Kai-Lou's faces.
“Kaorri - Ma - lo - katora,” Kai-Lou whispered.
The next second, the elves flowed across the forest, landing in front of Kai-Lou.
“Wow,” Bigee said. “I always wanted to do that.”
“You’ll learn,” Kai-Lou tapped on his shoulder.
“Remember us?” said the first elf.
“Pointing spears at you, your heads and all?” the second one added while taking a spear out of his sheath.
The elf’s spear was a split second away from Bigee’s head, but he quickly jumped back, pulled out a small dagger, and plunged it into the elf’s stomach. The second elf ran away.
Kai-Lou’s eyes widened in pride. “See,” he said, “you have your talents too.”
Bigee and Kai-Lou continued walking until they got to a clearing in the forest, where they saw a small temple. The temple was old. Bigee could see that the walls were peeling. Kai-Lou noticed that vines were climbing up to the upper part of the temple. Bigee could smell the rotten scent of mold and dust. But most importantly, both noticed that there was complete silence in that clearing.
“Well, are we going in or what?” Kai-Lou said kindly.
“Y-yeah,” Bigee stammered.
And so, they went in. Our two heroes entered the temple—just a normal temple, right? RIGHT?
Here they were in a giant room with golden pictures on the walls and colorful carpets on the floor that looked like they went on forever. Pretty candles brightened the room, heating it up and creating beautiful particles in the air. But the most amazing thing was a bag, lying on a pillar in the middle of the room, surrounded by pretty blue light.
“I only have one thing to say,” Kai-Lou whispered.
Bigee replied as if he were reading his thoughts, “This place is way bigger on the inside…”
“Wait!” Bigee said as Kai-Lou was heading for the bag.
Kai-Lou stopped.
“Maybe it’s a trap!” Bigee said.
Kai-Lou thought for a second, then said, “Nah, it’s probably not,” and kept going.
“STOP!” Bigee tried again, but it was no use. Kai-Lou was already running toward the pillar with the bag on it.
