Meet Sarah Seymour

It isn’t where you came from, it’s where you’re going that counts.” – Ella Fitzgerald

Sarah Seymour has been teaching at Wainwright High School since 2003.

Sarah started out her career as a musician at the age of 5 when she saw a pianist playing on Sesame Street. She asked for music lessons and her mom obliged...walking her every day to a local church to practice...3 years later they finally bought a piano of their own.

In high school she discovered bands, choirs, musical theater and eventually went on to study Piano, Trumpet, Voice and Percussion at the University of Lethbridge.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education in 2000

Sarah recently was a conductor/participant at the Los Angeles Conducting institute at Cal Tech University.

Sarah is passionate about communicating story through music. Finding the narrative and then working with the ensemble to take the audience on a journey is a large part of her focus with all of her ensembles.

Sarah happily teaches grades 7-12 bands at Wainwright High School.

She is also the proud mother to 5 children (mostly all brass players, but she has concerns about her youngest who is drawn to percussion)

Sarah is excited about working with Mr. Olsen and all the young musicians of our division through this website.
