Meet Jenny Thomson

Where do I start...

The great Athenian philosopher, Plato, once said:

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.”

Throughout my life music has always been a constant element, and having had the chance to spend my teaching career thus far facilitating and directing concert bands, I can say without a doubt that it has been the most rewarding as well.

I couldn't be more proud to lead the Irma Band Program, and to be able to add to the well established and thriving musical atmosphere that is here. I am grateful for the community and school support I have been generously given and shown over the past few years that I have been here.

As a former member of the WHS music program, and with extensive training and experience outside of the school setting, I couldn't be more ecstatic and proud to have returned to my roots and continue on in the phenomenal tradition that is the BTPS Band Program.

As I always say, what I may lack in talent, I make up for with heart and ambition. Music is a universal language, and having the opportunity to teach others to utilize it and communicate through it has opened up a world of adventure and exploration for myself and those I have been able to instruct over the years.

My life has taken me many places and has provided me with several experiences that makes me who I am today. I am a loving mother of two rambunctious boys, who are my world.

Ultimately, to sum it all up, I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2014 with a Bachelor of Education Degree and hit the ground running ever since.

I look forward to sharing my drive and passion for music with you.
