Meet Jamie Stromberg

Music is what Sounds feel like...

and that is obvious when you enter my classroom in Kitscoty. I have always been passionate about how music can express emotions and how it is more than just having your fingers in the right place at the right time. Your job is to tell a story, or elicit a response from your audience.

I grew up in Williams Lake, BC and started my journey with music in choir in elementary school, and then progressing on to recorders. I was blessed to have had a teacher that went above and beyond the typical recorder groups and was able to play around with the soprano, alto, tenor, bass, and sopranino in a full recorder ensemble. They discovered my love of music and encouraged me to choose band in junior high, even though I would be starting out a year or two behind the others. It was one of the best choices in my life. The bandroom was a place where I could be me, and everyone worked together as a community to achieve something great. It led me to take a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education at the U of A and eventually settle in Vermilion and begin teaching in Kitscoty in 2007.

I have a wonderful family, which includes my husband and two daughters, that spend as much time in the outdoors as possible. We can often be found golfing, biking, kayaking, running, or cross-country skiing depending on the weather.
