Our Purpose:

Welcome to our site Outside the Bandroom:

2020 has brought on challenges that we as teachers, students, and musicians are quickly trying to adapt to. Our school division, Buffalo Trail Public Schools is in the province of Alberta Canada. Due to the pandemic of Covid 19, our classrooms haven't met since March 13 (ironically a Friday the 13th ).

This site was created to support instructing music remotely and moving forward we plan to continue to develop it's content to support teaching in the 2020-2021 school year in whatever form we are directed to use. (We really hope we will be back in our buildings!)

In dark times we find light by coming together and by filling our time with activities that bring us joy. Music is one of those activities. This past year this site as served as a place for enrichment. Moving forward next year this site may contain activities that will be used for in class and remote assessment as decided by individual schools and teachers in the division. We are here because we love music, we love learning and sharing...and we think there is more to life than school work.

These opportunities are here for you to connect and grow, to keep you playing and to remind you all that music can bring us together...even when we are apart.
