When you need to use words you don't know in German you need to translate them. You will be using a dictionary from the list below:
https://dict.leo.org/german-english/
DO NOT USE AN ELECTRONIC TRANSLATOR FOR FULL SENTENCES - YOUR TEACHER CAN TELL IN AN INSTANT!
This is because electronic translators (such as Google Translate) translate every word individually regardless of context.
So you might type in: "I pay my bill at the restaurant."
...and your translation might read: "I wage my beak at the restaurant."
...because to the electronic translator, the NOUN pay is a wage, and a BIRD'S beak is a bill.
See how the electronic translator didn't pick up that the "pay" in your sentence is a verb?
If you submit a sentence that makes no sense because you have been lazy and used a translator - your teachers will know. Just don't.
HOW TO USE AN ELECTRONIC DICTIONARY
Read the following instructions carefully.
Keep this handout as a REFERENCE SHEET: Re-read it as often as you need to, while practising your dictionary use.
Open the file below to see another resource for dictionary use.
Pick TEN items around the classroom or your house and look up the GERMAN words in the dictionary. Write the word list into your workbook.
Examples:
the table - der Tisch (m)
the door - die Tür (f)
the window - das Fenster (n)
Create at least THREE sentences using words from your wordlists.
HINT: You can use your haben conjugation in these sentences.
CHALLENGE: Try incorporating your hobbies vocab as well.
