Year 8 Humanities

The Humanities includes four interdisciplinary strands: Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History. These four strands will be covered over the two year band of Years 7 and 8.  It is a compulsory subject in Year 8. Humanities provides a framework for students to examine the complex processes that have shaped the modern world and to investigate responses to different challenges including people’s interconnections with the environment. 

What is studied?

Within this subject student learning is based upon the following key knowledge and concepts:

• Economics: Consumer financial literacy

• Geography: Landforms and landscapes, and Changing Nations

• History: The Middle Ages – Europe & Asia

• Civics & Citizenship: Active Democracy
