This subject suits students who enjoy singing or playing an instrument and want to experience working in bands and ensembles. Each class involves playing music and working towards performances. Playing music has recently been discovered to have huge benefits for brain development. It is also a brilliant way to learn more about working with other people to create something amazing!

What is studied?
Within this subject student learning is based upon the following key knowledge and concepts:
Building awareness of music style
Developing group performance and presentation skills
Developing teamwork and rehearsal skills
Building greater musical skills
Weekly instrumental lessons
Use of composition software
Theory and knowledge of musical terminology
Practical skills in sound and audio production
Creative skills in improvising, composition and interpreting music

External feedback from guest artists

Practical instrumental and theory exam

Future Pathways: Students who continue studying Music throughout BSE will have the opportunity to develop skills which lead to VET and VCE music.
