What is studied?
In VCE Psychology Unit 1, the students will explore how behaviours and mental processes are shaped. The main focuses being:
What influences psychological development?
How are mental processes and behaviour influenced by the brain?
How does contemporary psychology conduct and validate psychological research?
In Unit 2, the investigation turns to look at how internal and external factors influence behaviours and mental processes. During this, the main focuses are on:
How are people influenced to behave in particular ways?
What influences a person’s perception of the world?
How do scientific investigations develop understanding of influences on perception and behaviour?
In addition to the skills in the Overview, the students will also apply the following Key Science Skills:
Developing aims and questions, formulation hypothesis and making predictions
Plan and conduct investigations
Comply with safety and ethical guidelines
Generate, collate and record data
Analyse and evaluate data and investigation methods
Construct evidence-based arguments and draw conclusions
Analyse, evaluate and communicate scientific ideas
