Sculpture
Subject Length: 1 semester

Within the subject area of Sculpture, students will explore and respond to hand-building techniques using a wide variety of mixed medium materials such as clay, mod rock, paper clay, plaster, and modelling wire. Students will create and hand sculpt unique 3-dimensional forms, implementing various mixed medium materials.
What is studied?
Within this subject student learning is based upon the following key knowledge and concepts:
Students in Sculpture will develop their exploration into a variety of techniques and mixed medium materials to create final sculptural outcomes
Students will develop their knowledge of Art language and analytical skills through looking at other artists' work
Students will investigate the design process to generate and develop final sketches and presentations
Develop a variety of drawing skills to visualise three-dimensional sculptural layouts
Students will use the pottery wheel to develop a higher knowledge of learning and skill set
Students will create and present final sculptural outcomes for display and exhibition purposes

Within this subject student learning is developed and assessed through:
A folio of ideas and final Sculptural outcomes
Annotation of thumbnail sketches, ideas and inspiration of other artists
Use of mixed medium materials/glazes
Artwork analysis
An exam

Future Pathways: Completion of year 10 Sculpture will allow students to proceed to VCE Unit 1-4 and related VET applied certificate.
