Science of Us

Requirement: Black leather school shoes are a safety requirement for all practical aspects of this course.

Students will investigate the Chemistry of Food. This topic will explore what plants need and how they grow. They will also look at Food Security and how this impacts on people from different parts of the world. The students will then dive into some genetics and look at what makes up our DNA, how we inherit traits and the environmental impacts on this. Finally the students look into the functions of the brain and unravel how people learn, what they remember, thought patterns, personality, perception, plasticity, communication and emotions.

• Human digestion and energy use and storage

• How the brain works

• How nerve and neurons operate our bodies
