Introduction to Psychology

The course exposes students to the various fields of Psychology as they gain an understanding of what Psychology is and the vocational pathways that exist. Human behaviour is analysed to investigate influences and how and why humans act as they do. The human brain is explored to unravel how people learn, what they remember, thought patterns, personality, perception, plasticity, communication and emotions. Students cover many related topics, including types of psychologists, sleep and sleep disorders, social and group psychology, mental illness and treatments, psychopathology and forensic psychology. The study of psychology can lead to many exciting opportunities and a range of careers that involve working with humans in all areas of the human
