Healthy Girls
Subject Length: 1 semester
Subject Fee: $130 - covers costs of activities plus transport to community venues (Cost subject to change)
Healthy Girls is a great opportunity for females or students who identify as female to develop a deeper understanding of body image, the effects of social media, the importance of regular physical activity and good nutrition. There are regular visits to community facilities such as Fit Republic, Yoga, Pilates, Tennis and The Zone. Students also complete compulsory Sport Ed and Health units throughout the semester.
What is studied?
Within this subject student learning is based upon the following key knowledge and concepts:
Body image, self esteem, self appreciation, resilience, mindfulness and gratitude
Healthy eating and nutrition
Effective participation in Sport Education program
Analysing of fitness and levels of physical activity
Respectful Relationships, risk taking and building resilience
What type of work is done?
Within this subject student learning is developed and assessed through:
Observational assessment of application within practical activities
Formative assessment rubrics: self & teacher assessment
Performance analysis and reflection on fitness levels
Health units are assessed through completion of workshops, collaborative activities and workbook tasks
Summative assessment task at the conclusion of the health unit.
Exams completed at the end of the semester

This class is designed for female students or those who associate with the female gender who are interested in improving their overall physical, social and emotional health and fitness levels in a positive and encouraging environment.
