In this class, students will further develop their knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene requirements. Students will use more complex design briefs to develop food production tasks that extend their capacity to plan and manage tasks. They will consider how food waste impacts on society and explore strategies to minimise it. Students will utilise food preparation skills and knowledge of food properties to enable them to individualise outcomes considering the nutritional needs for good health in adolescence. They will research indigenous food and incorporate indigenous food products.
In all technology practical classes, it is mandatory to wear leather school shoes for safety and protection purposes.
What is studied?

The impact of global and consumer issues from around the world including food waste and food security
Food preparation skills and nutritional needs for good health in adolescence
