General PE in Year 10 requires students to study and demonstrate more challenging concepts when participating in practical activities. Students will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through participation in Sport Education competitions plus learn to look at sport performance in detail through the movement analysis unit. In Health topics students will explore various topics related to Gender, Sexuality and Relationships.
What is studied?
Within this subject, student learning is based upon the following key knowledge and concepts:
Major Games: participation in selected structured sports, investigating rules, strategies, movement concepts and skills.
Sport Education: developing, coordinating and participating in a structured sporting competition.
Movement Analysis: using data and statistics to improve individual and team performance.
Fitness: completing fitness testing, analysing results and goal setting.
Health: Gender, Sexuality & Relationships.
What type of work is done?
Within this subject student learning is developed and assessed through:
Observational assessment of application within practical activities
Formative/Summative assessment rubrics: self & teacher assessment
Journal activities to demonstrate understanding of concepts
Sport Education: performing various team and duty roles
Health units are assessed through completion of workshops, collaborative activities, workbook tasks and summative assessments
Exams completed at the end of the semester
