Science and Engineering

Work input is equal to work output, but you can gain an advantage on the amount of force that you need to supply at the cost of the distance through which that force is applied. That is the essence behind why we study the physics of simple machines. From ladders to jet airplanes, the information age still needs engineering to get around.
