When reviewing your child's report card, keep in mind that many of the tested skills are year-long goals. Look for areas where you can help your child strengthen these basic skills, so that as we move forward they will have the tools they need to be successful as they learn to apply what they know to a variety of new learning situations. Also, continue to reinforce good behavior choices so that your child can make the most of his or her learning time without unnecessary distractions.

What is esgi?

ESGI in an online assessment tool used by kindergarten teachers to track your child's growth! Kindergarteners are too young to sit for a paper test for each subject. ESGI is tested individually, typically being pulled by the parapro into the hallway for one-on-one testing. Or sometimes data is inputted based on school work, daily observations, and other assessments.

how can i see my child's growth?

I do my best to show student detailed reports before and after each trimester. This information is sent home in Take Home folders AND into your child's Class Dojo Portfolio. If you want another copy mid-trimester, just ask! I love seeing parent involvment.

what's on the esgi report?

ESGI includes detailed information on incorrect/correct answers, pie graphs to show overall progress, and line charts to show improvements over time! It also shows the report card grade. Upon request, ESGI can also create flashcards for incorrect answers. Please scroll down for example.

What is irla?

IRLA is the online assessment tool for reading levels. This is how we weekly monitor and stay up to date on growth. The IRLA Family Report will show what skills your child is working on at their level, and what skills they will need to move up a reading level.

WHat will the report card look like?

You will receive an ESGI and IRLA printed report at the end of each trimester. At this time, we are not using Skyward to report skills.
