A Virtual Dance Party is a great opportunity to bring alumni together as well as engage alumni family members.
Step 1: Identify a host or host committee:
One person or multiple people can host an event. Consider recruiting a host committee that can help promote the event personally to their friend networks.
Step 2: Invite alumni community to build a collaborative play list
Spotify and other streaming services allow people to build song play lists together and here is a guide on how to build Spotify playlists.
Decide on a playlist theme. This theme could be related to people’s time at Brown (like a Class of 2000 playlist) or it could be a playlist based on a general topic like favorite Halloween songs.
Step 3: Encourage people to show their Brown Pride
Ask attendees to wear something Brown related or bring props to display
Encourage alumni to display a Brown themed zoom background
Step 4: Determine a date and time that would work best for your audience:
You know your communities best. Are weekend afternoons popular for engagement, or are you better off selecting a weeknight? If you’re encouraging people to have their children attend/join in, you should factor that in when choosing your time.
Step 5: Decide on technology
There are a number of video conferencing options out there, including:
Cisco WebEx, Zoom, FreeConferenceCall.com, GoToMeeting
Step 6: Create a BRAVO event page and advertise
Create your BRAVO event page so that guests can register to attend online. Then, start inviting people with scheduled emails!
Step 7: Get social
Make sure to advertise across your group’s social media platforms. Use appropriate hashtags to spread the word about your event and to encourage people to join in on the fun by registering for the next event. Hashtag possibilities include: #EverTrue, #BrownReunion, #BrownAtHome, #BrunoniansAtHome, and #Brown(insert last two digits of class year here)
