Netflix Party Technical Instructions

To host or participate in a Netflix party, you and your guests need access to the following applications:

1. Netflix account

2. Google Chrome web browser on a desktop or laptop computer

Instructions on how to set up a Netflix party

1. Go to Netflix Party website: https://www.netflixparty.com/ in your Google Chrome browser

2. Click on the “Install Netflix Party” for free button/link

3. You will be directed to a Google web store page where you will click on the “Add to Chrome” button and then “add extension” button. After you add the extension you should see an “NP” icon at the top of your Google Chrome browser page

4. After you’ve installed the extension, you should go to your Netflix account and select the movie or TV show you will watch.

5. Once you’ve chosen the movie or TV show you want to watch, click on the “NP” icon at the top of your Google Chrome Browser.

6. Click on “Start the Party” button and Netflix will generate a shareable link and Select “Only I have Control” option.

7. Send the shareable link to your RSVP list and wait for your guests to sign in. Please make sure to tell your guests that they need to click on the red NP icon to join a party after clicking on your party invite link.

8. Then you can begin the show.

Important things to know about managing your Netflix party:

1. Unfortunately, you cannot generate a shareable link that remains active after you log out of your Netflix account. Every time you log into Netflix and start the party for a movie or tv show, a new shareable link is generated. You will need to create and send the shareable link around the start time of your Netflix Party event.

2. Send instructions on how to join the Netflix party well in advance of the event to your guest. Your guests need to be prepared to receive the shareable link right before you start the party.

3. For large events, you may want to do a practice run to make sure you are comfortable with managing the Netflix party.
