Netflix Party How-to Guide

Host a virtual movie night for your alumni community. A Netflix Party is a new way to watch Netflix with friends online. It allows you to synchronize video playback and has a group chat feature so your guests can connect with one another while enjoying a movie or TV show.

Step 1: Select a show/movie for the party

Movie and show selections should be aligned with the audience you want to attract. Will this be a family event or are you looking to appeal to a young alumni audience?

Other ideas/themes to consider:

  • Movies or tv shows that were created by or feature Brown alumni.

  • Movies or tv shows that feature your city or region (if organizing a club event)

  • Movies or tv shows that came out during your time at college (if organizing a class event)

Step 2: Select a date and time

Date and time should be aligned with the availability of the desired audience.

Step 3: Select a party host

The party host will need to be comfortable with Netflix and answering some technical questions that may arise.

Here are the technical instructions on how to set-up a Netflix Party and what your guests need to do to access the event. Please read these instructions carefully!

Step 4: Create a BRAVO event page and advertise

Create your BRAVO event page so that guests can register to attend online.

Your event description should include information on what guests will need to participate in the event (Netflix Account and Google Chrome web browser) and instructions on what guests need to do in advance of the event to participate (install Netflix Party extension on Google Chrome).
