Carnegie Hall's The B-Side Music Industry Course
The B-Side invites young people ages 14-22 to apply for its beginner-level music industry course. Selected participants will be sorted into 2 cohorts, by age. Both cohorts will start with a weeklong intensive followed by one month of after-school workshops. The weeklong intensive for ages 14-17 starts during the Winter Break, and the one for ages 18-22 starts during Spring Break. Workshops will take place at Carengie Hall's Rensick Education Wing in Manhattan (154 West 57th Street). Participants will receive a stipend for their participation, and transportation and food are provided during the program.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Garden Apprentice Program
The Garden Apprentice Program (GAP) at Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a great way for teens to learn about urban agriculture and the environment while working in one of the most exciting public gardens in the world. Apprentices make a 9-month commitment to GAP, from March to November. Programming takes place 1 or 2x/week during the spring and fall sessions, and four days a week during the summer.

Baruch STEP Academy
The Baruch College STEP (Science and Technology Entry Program) Academy is a New York State Education Department-funded pre-college program for middle and high school students interested in pursuing careers in the STEM professions. The program invites eligible students to participate in workshops and enrichment courses in math, science, SAT, and college preparatory workshops. The program runs from January 24-April 25.

Enrolled in grades 7-12 with good academic standing
Minimum 83 GPA, and an 83 or above in math, science, and English courses

The Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program (SCS JIP)
The SCS JIP provides high school, college, and law school students with summer internships with state and federal judges in NYC, supplemental educational programming, college prep resources, and mentorship.

YES in THE HEIGHTS Program
The YES in THE HEIGHTS program is a summer youth internship for high school and undergraduate students that aims to increase the pool of youth entering STEM fields. This program encourages individuals who have not had substantial biomedical research experience, or who have the potential to significantly benefit from additional biomedical research experience to pursue further students or careers in research. The 8-week program includes a formal orientation and hands-on scientific training as well as training in academic etiquette and professionalism, completion of an Individual Development Plan, required submission of a scientific abstract, and for 2nd years, a scientific oral presentation. The program runs from June 29 to August 21.
Eligibility Requirements:
U.S. citizens or permanent residents eligible
At least 14 years old
Must be in good academic standing and demonstrate a high aptitude and interest in science
Committed to being on the Columbia Medical or Morningside campus in person for 8 weeks
Committed to working 8 hours daily from 8am-6pm during the summer

Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program
The Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program places diverse NYC public high school students with legal employers for the summer. This program runs annually from April through August and is part of the Association's continuing efforts to enhance the diversity of the legal profession. Selection is based upon personal interviews and demonstrated academic excellence, job assignments vary, but typically include: assisting paralegals, filing, record keeping, assisting library and back-office personnel, data entry, and document and exhibit organization. The program will run from July 8-August 14.

Resident of any of the five boroughs of NYC
Must be 16 years or older on or before June 1
Must commit to attending the full 6-week session
Interns may participate in in-person, remote, or hybrid opportunities pending availability

Pathfinders Internship
The Pathfinders Internship Program gives NYC public high school students their first workplace experience in computer science. The upcoming cohort will take place during Spring 2026 and include 60 hours of paid, hands-on work at host sites, plus 10 hours of mandatory career-readiness training. Interns gain hands-on experience in computer science, working on real projects. They also develop professional workplace skills, including communication, professionalism, time-management strategies for planning their work, and more. Throughout the program, students receive guidance from mentors and have the opportunity to connect with other students and industry professionals, building their network and preparing for future opportunities.

Authorized to work in the U-S and provide I-9 verification documentation
Have working papers (if under 18) and SSN or ITIN
Commit to 5-15/hours/week, including weekends

NYU Urban Journalism Workshop
The Urban Journalism Workshop at NYU is designed to develop the next generation of great journalists. Our mission is to equip high school students in the tri-state area with essential journalistic skills. The workshop is led by NYU journalism faculty and visiting professionals, who offer students hands-on training in reporting, news writing, and multimedia journalism. The program also includes site visits to major newsrooms (CNN, NYTimes, Bloomberg, VICE, ABC News) and the production of an online multimedia news site published on the last day of the workshop. The program runs from July 13-July 19.

NYU Applied Research In Science and Engineering (ARISE)
The ARISE program at NYU Tandon School of Engineering offers unparalleled opportunities for high school students to conduct real-world scientific research at a variety of NYU STEM labs. Students gain valuable first-hand experience working in a lab and making practical, substantive contributions to the lab's research objectives in exciting STEM fields. Students will also receive training in presentation and public speaking skills and present their research findings at the program's concluding colloquium. ARISE is a 10-week program, with 4 weeks of remote after school workshops in June and 6 weeks of in-person labs starting July 1, M-F from 9am-4pm.

Girls Who Code is excited to offer Pathways this summer from Monday, June 29 through Friday, August 14. This 7-week program is a free, flexible online learning opportunity for students who want to learn coding at their own pace. Participants will be able to explore coursework in 5 tracks: Data Science + AI, Game Design, Web Development, Cybersecurity, and AI + Society. Students will also gain real-world insights through virtual Partner Events with leading tech organizations.

GRAMMY Camp is a national music industry program for high school students interested in having a career in music. Students from across the country will have the opportunity to apply for a variety of GRAMMY Camp programs. Led by a GRAMMY Camp faculty of music industry professionals and GRAMMY nominees and winners, GRAMMY Camp is the industry's only summer camp dedicated to providing students with valuable insight from real-world music makers to give campers the best chance at achieving success in their chosen career. NYC School Construction Authority Summer Internship
The School Construction Authority designs and constructs safe, attractive and environmentally sound public schools for children throughout NYC. Through the internship opportunity, participants are matched with an SCA department or partner company in NYC, based on their career interests and skills. Participants gain training, work experience, and career guidance from industry experts to build skills for their construction field. It is a 6-week paid internship from July 6 through August 14, M-F from 9am-4pm. Internship areas include: Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Real Estate, Construction Administration, and related areas. Application opens January 2.

Turn Up Activism Remote Internship
TurnUp Activism is a progressive non-profit organization dedicates to making our nation more just, fair, and equitable for all by increasing youth activism and civic engagement to strengthen our democracy. Interns work in remote teams of mission-driven young people from around the country to help amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on many progressive/social justice issues including climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, and combating voter suppression. ACE Mentor Program (Architecture, Construction, Engineering)
The ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY is a free after-school mentorship program to introduce high school students to careers in architecture, engineering, and construction management. Mentors lead students through their career pathways, introduce them to foundational knowledge of their industry, and teach students to use design software that they use in their everyday jobs. After the basics, the team works on a mock design project of their choosing to apply what they learned to a real-life situation, and they present the project in the Spring to other teams, ACE GNY staff, and industry leaders. ACE GNY is a free, full year program running from November through May.

All Stars Project Inc. Youth Programs
In the Development School for Youth (DSY), young people ages 16-21 learn to perform as professionals, and they partner with business leaders across the country who conduct development workshops and provide paid summer internships at their companies. Workshops and trainings include resume-writing, networking, public speaking, and dressing professionally. Program graduates are then placed in summer internships where they continue to develop their leadership and professional skills and connect to the world of success. Become a Student Pollworker!
The NYC Board of Elections is looking for pollworkers! Poll workers are required to attend a four hour training class; classes are available on Saturdays and Sundays at each borough office. You will be paid $100 for attending the class, passing the exam, as well as working one election event. On Election Day, if you are working the full day, report to your assigned polling place at 5:00am and work until the polls close, you will be paid $250 for the full day. If you are assigned to the peak hour assistance shift, report to your assigned polling place at 3:00pm and work until the polling place closes, you will be paid $125.

Be 17 years old by Election Day and get permission from a school official and parent/guardian
Be a U.S. citizen
Bilingual students fluent in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and Bengali are encouraged to apply
