Recommendation letters are an important component of the college application that give teachers the opportunity to talk about you in the context of the classroom. Teachers can highlight your academic strengths, skills, and growth based on specific examples of your work and experiences in the classroom.
It is recommended that students request letters of recommendation from 2 academic teachers (English, math, science, history) before the end of junior year, and preferably 2 teachers from 11th grade. If you are applying to an Arts program, you can ask your studio teacher.
*Students are responsible for following up with their recommenders, ensuring they are written in advance of their application deadlines and submitted to Naviance in a timely matter, and confirming that colleges received the recommendations.
