OBU-UTG Knowledge Exchange project is an international collaborative knowledge exchange project led by Oxford Brookes University (OBU) and the University of The Gambia (UTG). The overall aim of the project is to co-create guidelines for a sustainable nutrition strategy for The Gambia.
The project is based on extensive research, training, and knowledge exchange activities at Oxford Brookes University Centre for Nutrition and Health (OxBCNH).
Partnering with the Ministries of Health and Agriculture in The Gambia, the project seeks to address the utilisation of native produce and preventive strategies for diet-related non-communicable diseases and undernutrition in children and adults across different life stages.
The project will provide new insights into how incorporating native foods like millet, baobab, and other plant-based products into daily diets can significantly improve the nutritional status and overall health of the people in The Gambia.
