The heating for each Hall of Residence is different. Guidance on how your heating settings work can be found on the Oxford Brookes Heating webpage.
In accordance with EU and World Health Organisation guidelines, our halls are heated to a standard temperature of 19 degrees. If your room is already at this temperature, the heating will not activate.
The University space heating is only on during the heating season, which is typically from October to the end of April (dependent upon prevailing weather).
It is important to note, if your room is already up to temperature, the heating will not come on. Additional heat will only be delivered if the room is colder than the set point.
If you believe your heating is not working, you can report this to the Service Desk.
Excited to make a difference? Your actions are crucial on our path to achieving net-zero. Here are some simple steps you can take:
turn off lights when you are not in the room
switch off appliances at the socket when they're not in use
it is a good idea to buy a duvet for your bedding rather than a blanket or a sheet to keep you warm while sleeping
don’t fill the kettle to make a single cup of coffee, just add enough water to make what you need
during chilly UK winters, layer up with a jumper before adjusting heating settings
