The aim of this programme is to get parents more involved in the school life and also to liaise with new parents. Our community of parents is growing, with many joining us from different backgrounds and we would like to create bonds throughout the BSM school family.
Ambassadors will have the unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to school life and school improvement, by ensuring that parent perspectives are considered in school decision-making processes.
The structure will involve three forums: The Whole School Forum, The Primary Forum and The Secondary Forum.
Each year group within the school will have 1 representative. This will mean a total of 15 parents - 8 in Primary/EYFS and 7 in Secondary.
Meetings for the Primary (inc EYFS) and Secondary Forums will be held every two months (approx), with only one in the summer term. Total 5 per year.
In addition, there will be a Whole School Forum meeting, once per term. Total 3 per year.
Parent ambassadors will be personally be invited to all major events (Cheese & Wine, Andalusian, International day), Induction Day for new families in September (before start of term), Invitation to all Coffee with the Headteacher events and Careers week .
Ambassadors are parents who have children in the school and are volunteers who give their valuable personal time for free. Ambassadors are not spies for the school, they don’t receive benefits or discounts from the school, and their role is not to just generate good press.
The main objective is to foster fluid communication and collaboration between families and the school and welcoming new families with the buddy programme.
On the main priority of school improvement this involves:
Collating parent feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and positive change. You will see in the detailed meeting minutes evidence of this.
Review official school communications (when needed/requested) to check that questions that could be raised by parents are answered up front.
Provide a ‘parents’ point of view on topics raised by the school which need input.
The ambassadors are not involved in any day-to-day operational decision making, that is entirely driven by the school leadership team and the International Schools Partnership (ISP) organisation, and overseen by government bodies responsible for education. The Ambassadors are also not there to pressure the school on real-time issues.
