Learning the Basics
Twitter Bird Task
In this session, we were learning to use the pen tool in illustrator. As you can hopefully see, our first task was to recreate the twitter bird logo, without tracing, using the pen tool.
I struggled with this task in lesson, to the bottom left is what I created in lesson. I didn't quite understand how the keyboard worked in relation to the pen tool, for example how the 'alt' key can be useful to "cut" the line after drawing a curve if you want to draw a straight line after, and I eventually gave up.
However, independently out of lesson I decided to challenge myself to become more accustomed to the pen tool and watched videos explaining how to use it before re-attempting the twitter bird task. My final outcome for this task is found to the bottom right.

Monster Task
After becoming familiar with the pen tool, we were introduced to the shapes and the brush tools in illustrator. For this task, we were asked to recreate a monster using a combination of the shapes, brush and pen tools.
In lesson, I didn't entirely follow the brief as I was in awe of the large variety of in-built brushes that I had to my creative disposal. The monster I created in lesson is shown to the bottom left.
Independently, I recreated a monster which better fit the creative brief we were given and my final product is shown to the bottom right.
