Composition
What is Composition?
Composition is how the elements on screen, such as actors, scenery, props, etc., appear in conjunction to/with each other and within the actual shot's frame. Composition is used to direct the viewer's attention to specific subjects/objects, to convey information and subtext, for example and underlying theme/message/meaning, to the viewer and can highlight the key aspects of a scene to the audience. Furthermore, composition creates aesthetically pleasing imagery, drawing the audience into the scene, and can show a unique directing or cinematography style making the film individual and instantly recognisable to that director or DOP.
