It can be super helpful to have the contents of your Google Drive available on Boxlight's built-in web browser. However, logging in with your school account isn't good practice, making other confidential information accessible on the board. A public Google Drive folder will give you the convenience of your slideshows and sub plans right on the board while keeping your account secure.
The basic steps:
Make a public Google Drive folder
Copy the folders link
Create a bit.ly shotened link from the long folder link
Type the short link on your Boxlight
Create a bookmark on the Boxlight
This is simple enough. You've done this before..... right?
Click on the three little dots to the right of the folder name, then click Share, and Share again. (We aren't ready to copy the link just yet.)
Click the pulldown menu under General Access and change it to 'Anyone with the link.' Then click on the 'Copy link' button to grab the long URL of your new public folder and then click the 'Done' button.
Create or move documents and slideshows you want to be able to get to easily on your Boxlight.
You can sign in using your BAS Google Account
Click on the 'Create new' button in the upper left of the Bit.ly window and then 'Link' from the sub-menu.
Paste the long link you copied from the folder in Google Drive to the 'Destination' field. Now set your 'Custom back-half' to be something you can remember and type on the Boxlight.
Open the Opera web browser on the Boxlight and type your brand new shortened link.
Tap the three dots on the upper right of the Opera window and select 'Speed Dial' near the bottom of the menu. This will make getting to your public folder easy in the future.
