There are several ways to notify the office if your child will be absent or late for school:
Genesis Parent Portal: Click on Attendance --> Click on Notify Office ---> Fill out the attendance code, date, and leave a reason for the absence in the comment area

Yes! Our transportation department will issue busing information through the Genesis Parent Portal in August.
For students who stay for afterschool activities, there is a late bus available that leaves at 4:45pm.
Absolutely. There are bike racks available at the front of the school for students to secure their bikes during the day with a lock. Helmets should be able to fit in their locker.
At the end of the day, students who are walking or biking are required to show their Walker ID to staff who are on duty.
Students who are not assigned to a bus will automatically be issued a Walker ID by the main office.
Parents of 7th or 8th grade bus students may request Walker IDs for their students at the beginning of the school year by completing the form in the Genesis Parent Portal.
Parents of 6th grade students will be offered this option later in the school year.
Students who do not possess a Walker ID can still walk or ride their bike at the end of the day. Their parents need to let the main office know that their dismissal plan. They should report to the Aux gym to check-in at the end of the day and then will be released to walk after the busses have ebeen dismissed.
Student schedules are released in the last weeks of August via the Genesis Parent Portal. Parents can access the Genesis Parent Portal at this link.
Before parents are able to access their schedules, they will need to complete the mandatory forms for the start of the school year.
In the parent portal, on the left side, there is a "Summary" tab that will bring you to scheduling information. Under the student information on the right side, there are PDF options for printing a copy of the schedule in either a list format or block view.
Teachers utilize the Genesis Parent Portal gradebook to track student progress on assignments and log grade information.

If your child is experiencing issues with another student, an important first step is to reach out to your child's teacher or guidance counselor.
Social conflict is very common at the middle school level as friend groups start to shift and students look to demonstrate their growing independence and feelings of growing up. At the same time, some actions step beyond the realm of conflict into bullying.
Your child's guidance counselor can provide you with further insights into the district's HIB policies. You can also get information on the district's website. Here you will find the bullying reporting forms as well as information video about the HIB process.
BCMS offers a wide array of athletics for students to participate in each season. For more information on athletic options and requirements for participation, visit the athletics website here.
Unlike at WES and SBS where parents sign students up for clubs, students at BCMS are responsible for reaching out to club advisors to get permission forms. Information is announced daily in the morning announcements and available for parents in the Friday News.
Students can expect up to 60 minutes of homework per day.
The purpose of homework is to reinforce learning, providing additional practice as well as study skills.
If a student has difficulty or surpasses the time allotment, please contact the teachers.
To determine placement into one of the three math levels offered in 6th grade, the following data is utilized:
Unit Assessments scores, including the Mid Year Assessment score, will be average together
the highest MAP score during the 5th grade school year
All students initially place in Math 6 or Foundations of Pre-Algebra 6 will have an opportunity to advance a level by participating in Algebra Prognosis assessment.
