The Lady Bruins clean sweep the Knights

This Friday was an epic game for our Bruins! The Varsity girls took on the NW Classen Knights and won the coin toss. In the first half, the Bruins started off very strong as they got a corner kick in their early first drive. However, as Brooke Baker tried to score for them, it was ultimately blocked by the Knights. But she was able to outspeed them and score the first goal for the Bruins. The Knights then got a goal kick, and the latter tried to score again, but it was saved again. But then Brooke Baker, and Eva Sigler put in good effort to prevent the opposing team from scoring, ultimately giving Avery Walker the opportunity to score for the Bruins and put them ahead 2-0. No other changes were made, except that Brooke Baker scored one more goal for the Bruins in the end of the First Half. Then, when the second half happened, the Bruins weren’t letting the Knights score at all, as Walker, and Ava Carter scored 2 more goals, back to back, followed by an additional one. This made it impossible for the Knights to catch up, and in the end, the Bruins clean sweeped the Knights 7-0, which ended their last home game with a bold win. Coach White had stated, “I personally was very satisfied with how we played. Even though we may not qualify for the playoffs, I’m proud of our energy and hard work!”

Lady Bruins get left in the dust by Sand Springs

This Friday Night was a perfect day for a game of soccer! At 6:00 Pm, Our Varsity Lady Bruins faced off against the Sand Springs Sandites. To begin in the first half, both teams had strong defense for the majority of the first half. However, after the Sandites scored, the Bruins also tried to score, but it was saved by the goalie for the Sandites. They later got a foul called, which gave the Sandites another chance to score, and they did. However, with the help of #6 Brooke Baker, the Bruins were finally able to score a point, but the Sandites also scored again, putting them at a 2-point advantage. Later in the second half, both teams managed to score again, but later the Sandites got a foul, and Brooke Baker shot another goal, but it was saved again. Then, Sand Springs got a penalty kick, putting them ahead 5-2. Despite Eva Sigler scoring for the Bruins, it was merely impossible to catch up, and so the Bruins lost 3-5. Coach Spencer White said, “Although the end results were frustrating, I thought we fought hard today. We just need more defense, that’s all.”

Varsity Boys leave the Sabercats in the Ice Age

2 days before Easter Sunday, Friday Night was a big night for our Bruin Varsity boys. They Took on the Southmoore Sabercats at 8:00 Pm. Starting off in the first half, the Bruins played well, with their defense holding up, with Austin Bastings putting their defenses in the field. However, despite the Bruins getting a lot of corner kicks, and a couple of corner kicks, both teams were still even, 0-0, for the remainder of the first half. In the Second Half, However, The Bruins had very strong plays, and at one point, although they fell behind and got a foul call, they recovered, which gave #10 Braxton Decker the opportunity to score the first goal for the Bruins. Although JD Salcedo along with Jackson Belong for the Bruins tried to score again, it was ultimately saved by Southmoore. At the end of the second half, The Bruins won, with a clean sweep, 1-0. Coach Cedric Muteshi remarked: “I was very proud with the way our team played out, and the next game, we just need to communicate more and put in our best efforts.”

Lady Bruins “Fly High” over Edison

This was surely a big game to watch for our Lady Bruins. Yesterday, at 6:00 pm, Bruin Varsity Girls faced off against the Edison Eagles. To kick things off in the first half, both Edison and Bartlesville scored a goal each, which evened out the field. However, Bruins #18 Eva Sigler managed to score yet another point for the Bruins, putting them ahead. The Bruins had a very smooth run through the rest of the first half, scoring 5 shots. In the second half, Edison had great defense, but it couldn’t beat the Bruins’ quick feet, as Sigler, Lexi Smith, and Ava Carter, all put in a good, solid effort for the Bruins. Then, #7 Carolina Amador for the Bruins, also played well in Defense, giving the Bruins the lead, 5-1, and a great way to close the game with a strong win for our Lady Bruins. Head Coach Spencer White was impressed with how strong we performed, stating: “This was a great way to come back, and to get our focus on the game. We definitely achieved that goal, and next time, we’re gonna do it all again with more numbers standing out!”

The Bruins get Shut out in Overtime

This sure was a big game for our Bartlesville Bruins! Last night, the Bruins faced off at home against the Owasso Rams. Starting off in the first half, the Bruins got an early advantage, scoring a goal kick, before later getting a foul, but recovered from it, and had a smooth first half for the majority of the 1st half. Midway through the first half, both teams played out strong, with the Rams’s defense holding up, and the Bruins’s offense attacked on as well. Despite the many goal kicks, corner kicks, no points were scored in the first half. In the Second half, Bruins #13 Austin Bastings making an impressive play on offense, and #4 Oswaldo Aranda also made an impressive play as well. Despite them getting flagged, they were able to block the Bruin’s greatest attempt to score. However, in a shocking turn of events, both teams scored 1 goal each. It stayed this way until Overtime, where both teams got 5 penalty kicks and whoever scored the most won. Coach Walsh was very confident and thought the Bruins would have it, and even though they did save the 1st 2 kicks, they couldn’t save the third and 4th, which meant the Rams had a chance to win, and they did. Coach Walsh said, “I Think it was that 2nd goal that threw us off. But I’m sure we can recover, and go all the way this year.

Varsity Boys Dominate win over Bentonville

Last night at 7:00 pm, the Varsity boys took on the Bentonville Wolverines. In the first half, the Wolverines won the Coin toss, and Austin Bastings for the Bruins scored a corner kick. Later, Braxton Decker scored the first goal for the Bruins, followed by another one towards the end of the first half. In the second half, the Bruins led 2-0, so Bentonville hoped to get at least one goal. Even though they eventually did, the Bruins were still able to defend their score, winning 2-1. Coach Cedric Muteshi had said, “I was a little disappointed with how our defense played out, I feel like at the last 7 minutes, we just took a step back.”

Varsity Girls and Guys Fall to Broken Arrow

Yesterday, The Varsity Boys and Girls traveled to Broken Arrow for an away soccer game. The first was the Lady Bruins and unfortunately, then ended up losing to the Broke Arrow Tigers 2-0. Then at 8:00 was the guys, who despite tying the game, Still Lost 2-2.
