When to Keep Your Child Home Due to Illness
COVID
Students may be required to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-related symptoms or exposure. Guidelines for COVID situations can be found here: COVID GUIDELINES FOR FAMILIES
Other reasons not necessarily associated with COVID:
FEVER
A temperature of 100 degrees or higher
Child should be fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours before returning to school
VOMITING
Due to an illness and not associated with a known chronic condition
No vomiting for at least 24 hours before returning to school
DIARRHEA
Due to an illness and not associated with a known chronic condition
No diarrhea for at least 24 hours before returning to school
RASH
A rash that is open, spreading and cannot be covered
The rash can be evaluated by a doctor or a district health services professional to determine whether the student should stay home
PINK EYE
Symptoms may include red watery eyes, swelling of the eyelid, yellow drainage, and/or fever
The condition can be evaluated by a doctor and the student should stay home until symptoms have cleared or are at least 24 hours into an antibiotic treatment
STREP THROAT
A diagnosis of strep throat from a medical professional
Student should remain at home until cleared by a medical professional or are at least 24 hours into an antibiotic treatment
