CIE A - Level Art & IGCSE Art and Design
A selection of IGCSE and A-Level artwork. We were once again immensely proud of the quality of work produced by our students.
CIE A - Level Art & Design - A2 / The Personal Investigation (9479)
Students follow the CIE 9479 Specification completing Components 1 and 2 in Y12 (AS) and Component 3 'The Personal Investigation' in Y13 (A2). The Personal Investigation challenges students to dig deeper into their chosen area of study. I encourage my students to have direct contact with the artists work and where possible meet the artist and visit their studio. This Component provides a real bridge to University where students find their own creative voice through genuine immersion in the work of others whilst finding real creative development within the creative journey.
CIE A - Level Art & Design - AS / Components 1 and 2 (9479)
Students follow the CIE 9479 Specification completing Components bo1 and 2 in Y12 (AS). Students follow the CIE 9479 Specification completing both Components 1 and 2 in Y12 (AS). The transition from ICGSE to A-Level is a demanding but rewarding process that encourages greater ownership of the creative process. Students further refine their skills in handling a wide range of media resulting in larger scale and more ambitious outcomes.
CIE A-Level Art & Design: Architectural pathways for University
A-Level art and Design students often want to pursue Architecture as a pathway at University. I have supported numerous students in the development of portfolio's which have enabled them to go on to study Architecture at universities in both Thailand and abroad.
CIE A-Level Digital Media & Design (9481)
CIE Digital Media & Design (9481) is a relatively new Specification that has given students the opportunity to continue their interest in Photography into A-Level. This has provided an excellent route for students eager to explore digital creativity as a future pathway. The course differs to IGSE Photography in its focus on real world uses of outcomes, working to a specific client/brief and encouraging students to consider clients and target audiences. The Specification provides the ideal platform for students transitioning from IGCSE to the multitude of digital media courses at University.
CIE IGCSE Art & Design: Painting & Related Media (0400)
IGCSE students are first taken through a 'foundational stage' where their skills are built up across a breadth of media whilst focusing on developing skills in accurate observational recording. Gradually students are encouraged to experiment with media and develop their own ideas, culminating in independent outcomes. This provides an ideal basis for students transitioning from KS3 to KS4 as they learn how to move effectively through the creative journey whilst fulfilling the objectives of the assessment criteria.
CIE IGCSE Art & Design: Photography & Lens Based Media (0400)
Students study the Art and Design specification and focus on Photography and Lens Based Media. In Photography students explore both film and digital photographic approaches, using a darkroom and a fully fitted photography studio. Digital editing using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom is also utilised alongside hand held techniques to ensure students explore the full breadth of media in their creative journey.
KS3 Showcase
I annually co-ordinate a celebration of the fantastic work our KS3 students produce. Displaying the work really generates a sense of pride and commitment from the students and enables us to increase awareness of the importance of stimulating creative thinking in KS3 to the whole school community.
