I studied Photography for my degree but am an all-round artist, confident in multiple disciplines from drawing, painting, printing, digital design and film. I originally attended University to study Fine Art, but later decided to transition to, and focus purely on, the realm of Photography. I have produced work for exhibition, on commission, as well as for publishing and print.
Resources for students
Most of the artwork I now produce is quick and 'in the moment pieces' as I demonstrate to the students the materials, processes and techniques that will be used within the lesson or throughout a project. I find it helps the students immensely to visually see the process in action as well as appreciate the speed at which it is possible to produce work along with the value of not being too 'precious' with their work. Most of the pieces you see were produced in under 5 minutes.
Mixing multiple charcoal mediums including willow, EE pencil and compressed charcoal to demonstrate the various properties of these materials to Y10 IGCSE Art students.
Combining paint with ink to produce semi abstract urban landscapes for our KS3 project 'Polluted Cities'.
Exploring painting without the use of a paintbrush with Y10 IGCSE Art students in order to broaden their appreciation for experimentation with media.
Exploring a range of media in order to develop ideas for a Mixed Media / Printing project for KS3. I often like to explore concepts for curriculum development through producing work. This tends to be the most effective way to explore materials and develop projects that the students can fully engage with.
Exploring the use of negative space to describe tone, detail, texture and form.
