Content and assessment overview
The Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in Arabic (listening, reading and writing) consists of three externally-examined papers that assess listening, reading and writing skills. These assessments will be set and marked by Pearson. Students must complete all assessments in May/June in any single year.
Paper 1: Translation into English, reading comprehension and writing (research question) in Arabic

Section B: Reading (20 marks)
Section C: Writing (research question) (40 marks)
Timing: 2 hours 30 minutes

The Edexcel A level in Arabic qualifications require students to:
Read and respond to a variety of Arabic-language written texts, including authentic sources, covering different contexts, registers, styles and genres.
Adapt their written Arabic language appropriately for different situations and purposes.
Use the Arabic language accurately to express facts and ideas, present explanations and viewpoints, develop arguments, analyse and evaluate in writing.
Understand and apply the grammatical system, and a range of structures of the Arabic language.
Transfer meaning from Arabic into English and/or vice versa.
Study aspects of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of one or more of the Arabic-language countries or communities.
