The application and interview process is demanding and we will place students in order of merit, although we try to place as many students as we can find appropriate work experience placements for.
Sixth Form Enrichment And Extra Curricular
All Sixth Form students benefit from an Enrichment programme which covers a wide range of areas including current affairs, practical and progression skills along with discussions on ethical and social issues. Alongside their academic studies, Sixth Formers also play sports and all students are required to take part in the wide and varied PE lessons once a week. We also have a strong House programme here at BISR and encourage all students to join in with this. There are opportunities for Sixth Form students to become the House Captain and become fully involved in the House programme. We run an annual expedition to Nepal where Sixth Form students are able to volunteer at orphanages, visit cultural and historical sites and trek in the Himalayan foothills. Our highly successful Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award programme offers Sixth Form students the opportunity to complete their Silver or Gold Award. Additionally, there is a full programme of extracurricular activities available at the British International School Riyadh.
Leadership And Service
BISR strongly believes in offering all Sixth Form students the chance to develop their personal and social skills along with those of leadership. Many leadership roles are offered to the students including:
Head Boy / Girl and Student Leadership Group.
House Captain, Student Council members, Member of various committees including the common room committee, fundraising committee, Year Book committee and Eco Schools committee.
In addition, all Sixth Form students are encouraged to carry out at least one BISR Community Contribution Activity (CCA) throughout their time in the Sixth Form. This could range from helping students with special needs in Year 2, to assisting with the preparation of chemicals and equipment for science lessons to participating in the Sports Leaders or Lifesaving Awards. The purpose of these activities is to encourage a sense of belonging and community among students of all ages throughout the School, help the Sixth Form students to develop communication and leadership skills, improve the students self-confidence and prepare them with a wide range of experiences to carry on to adult life.
