Families who participate in our research play a vital role in advancing our understanding of infant brain development. We are committed to ensuring that each visit is a positive and supportive experience. During both EEG and MRI sessions, parents frequently note the professionalism of our team, the clarity of communication, and the thoughtful accommodations made to meet each child’s needs. Below, you can read firsthand accounts from parents who have taken part in our studies.
"The team was so patient and engaging with my child and he warmed up to them quite nicely. Everything was done at our pace, and any time my child needed to pause or take a break, there was no issue. Overall it was a very pleasant experience."
"They put an electrode hat on my child and we made sure they were all sticking well. I held him as he watched a little video with faces and parts of children’s programming. It was very easy and my child and I both seemed to enjoy it."
"The team was very accommodating throughout the whole process. They were ready when my child lost attention, and offered breaks if needed. Her older sister wanted to come in the last time, which they were more than gracious in letting her come in the room and watch my baby get ready for the EEG, and then let her and their father sit in the main room while we did the EEG."
"This experience was fun and interesting for both parents and baby! It gets me excited to see how she will progress with these activities at the next two appointments. The staff and facility were very comfortable to partake in."
"This process was nearly flawless. My baby took a bit to fall asleep, but once he was down, everything moved so smoothly. I was by his side the whole time, and he was watched closely for any signs of waking during the scan. He was so snug and secure on the bed, we had to wake him up when it was over!"
"We were a bit nervous for the MRI because my baby doesn't always fall asleep quickly, and it did take a bit of coaxing for him to fall asleep and then stay on his back. But I felt safe the whole time, and the procedure was fully explained to me. I stayed in the MRI room and was really glad I could be with my baby the entire time he was undergoing the MRI."
"I was nervous about this appointment due to the pressure that naturally comes from having to get your baby to sleep, but it went extremely well despite my nervousness. I was a little thrown off by the actual actions that are required for the MRI (dark room, ear plugs, headphones, head braces, loud noises, etc.), but it makes sense knowing that the brain scan is the end result. The process was very professional and comfortable."
"The MRI is difficult because it is hard to get my son to fall asleep; he is very particular about where he sleeps and mindful of his surroundings. He only likes to sleep in his crib, car seat, or the baby wrap carrier. We finally managed for him to fall asleep at this last appointment, and the experience was really cool to see how an MRI goes for infants. Once again, all the staff were very friendly and accommodating."
