Meet the ENCoDE Team

Stefania Conte

Dr. Stefania Conte is the leader of the ENCoDE Team and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Binghamton University. As a developmental cognitive neuroscientist her research program investigates how neural maturation and the interactions between multiple cognitive domains (e.g., visual perception, attention, emotion and language processing) define the aspects of social communication.

Crystal Collins

Crystal is currently pursuing a PhD in cognitive psychology at Binghamton University. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in perception and memory processes. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting and ceramics. Her current aspiration is to become a researcher.

Devon Umeozor

Devon graduated with a B.S. in Integrative Neuroscience from Binghamton University. He joined ENCoDe because of his interest in researching early neurocognitive development. Outside of the lab, he volunteers at Lourdes Hospital. In his spare time, he enjoys playing ultimate frisbee. His current aspiration is to go into the medical field.

Heather Wallace

Heather is currently pursuing a BS in integrative neuroscience at Binghamton University and minoring in Italian. She  joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in doing clinical neuro research. Outside of the lab she regularly volunteers as an EMT. In her spare time she enjoys crocheting and running. Her current aspiration is to go into the medical field.

Kayla Hughes

Kayla is currently pursuing a BS in Integrative Neuroscience at Binghamton University and minoring in Forensic Health. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in cognitive development.  Outside of the lab she volunteers at local school districts and teaches young elementary students science lessons. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, and rugby. Her current aspiration is to be in the medical field. 

Rebecca Patachi

Rebecca is currently pursuing a BS in integrative neuroscience at Binghamton University. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in cognitive processes and development. Outside of the lab she volunteers at a local hospital and an elementary school for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities. In her spare time she enjoys making origami and hiking. Her current aspiration is to go into the medical field. 

Emma Kraan 

Emma is currently pursuing a B.S. in Biological Sciences at Binghamton University. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in clinical research and desire to gain further experience in a lab. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and reading. Her current aspiration is to go into the medical field.


Madeline Carter 

Madeline is currently pursuing a BS in Integrative Neuroscience at Binghamton University and is minoring in Health and Wellness. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in gaining experience with clinical neuro research. Outside of the lab, she volunteers with Upstate Medical University in the pediatric cancer center. In her spare time, she enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, running, and baking. Her current aspiration is to go into the medical field. 

Sama Nada

Sama is currently pursuing a BS in Integrative Neuroscience and minoring in Speech and Hearing Science. She joined the ENCoDe team because of her interest in clinical neuro research and development. Outside of the lab she volunteers at a nursing home. In her free time she enjoys reading and swimming. Her current aspiration is to go into the medical field.
