Research

The visual content below was generated by artificial intelligence and may not accurately reflect the setup of our research procedures. A realistic representation can be found in other pages of this website (EEG, MRI).

Electroencephalography (EEG)

EEG measures brain activity from little sensors that sit on the skin like a hat. The EEG system we use was designed for babies and children. Each sensor is surrounded by a small sponge and is soaked in warm water and baby shampoo before your baby wears it. These special hats allow you to see your child’s brain activity in real time! You can find out more about how we use this technique here.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI is a noninvasive technology we use to take pictures of your baby's brain. MRI does not involve any radiation or sedation. We take brain pictures while babies are sleeping or while children watch movies. You will be with your little one the entire time and we will share these brain pictures with you and your family! You can find out more about how we use this technique here.

Behavioral Measures

We use a number of developmental behavioral measures from tasks designed to help your child show off their abilities. These measures are obtained while your child is playing with a trained researcher or from their gaze movement while they explore interesting images. These measures show us how your child learn about the world around them!
