WIDA stands for World-Class Instructional Design & Assessment. WIDA Model has the Screener and ACCESS. The screener is given when a student begins school and is a measurement of how they will perform on the ACCESS test later that school year.
WIDA Basics
WIDA Screener
The screener must be administered with 30 days of a student's enrollment. A coach or designated staff will be around to meet with the student. Screening can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Screening requires a quiet place to work and access to a good internet connection. Once screened and scored, this data determines qualification for ELL/Title 3 services.
WIDA Access Testing
The WIDA Access Assessment is taken once a year (usually in December and January.) A coach or designated staff will be around to meet with the student. Testing can take anywhere from an hour to a couple of days. Testing requires a quiet place to work and access to a good internet connection. Students should be excused or supported to complete missing work/activities. Coaches are happy to work with you on scheduling as best they can, but appreciate flexibiilty. Remember there are over 400 students to test and we can only test around 1-5 at a time! This test determines continued services or an exit from the program.
Do not worry too much about WIDA. The coaches manage this part! We will reach out to the schools when needed!
