The LOTC program is a citizenship awareness, leadership development, and organizational management, "learning by doing", course of instruction. To accomplish this mission, the program includes courses such as citizenship, leadership, basic drills, and numerous other courses designed to assist cadets in succeeding in middle school and preparing for high school.
LOTC is a class that teaches Leadership and Citizenship. Students are given a Cadet Uniform that they are required to wear one day a week. The uniform is provided to the student at no cost. But it must be returned at the end of the year. Cadets study Marching and Drills, Citizenship, Patriotism, Leadership, the History of the American Flag, and the National Anthem. Students may be invited to participate in local parades, compete at LOTC Drill meets, and earn Rank, Awards, and Ribbons.
This course will also count as a PE credit.
