It doesn’t matter
What we did the night before.
Whether or not
We are hungover
or gently pulling off
the eggshell face mask
we slept with,
it doesn’t matter.
When we wake up
if we aren’t already in
comfortable clothes
we change into our oversized T shirts
that somehow was probably stolen
from a dad,brother, or friend,
a pair of sweats or shorts,
and some fuzzy socks
We throw our ruffled and tangled hair up into
something to tame it
usually a bun
and on the really crazy times
we let our curls
have full range
We lounge about
listen to music
we won’t eat anything
until at least 3 pm.
We make a trip to the store
at least once
we buy red bulls and chips and candy
and we feast
like kings
We make our way
back to someone’s bed
where we scroll our
lives away
on our phones. We talk
about drama
and gossip
and joke around
Suddenly the sun is setting
and moms start wondering
where their children
have been
all day
and when they are coming home
So we hop into the car
and say goodbye
until the next time.
