Le Savoie, or the Savoy region in English, is located in southeastern France and borders Geneva, Switzerland. This area is home to the French Alps, to many beautiful lakes, to Chamonix (home of the first winter olympics!) and Mont Blanc (the 2nd highest mountain in Europe), to world-famous ski resorts, to the Saint Bernard dog, and to cheesy dishes like raclette and tartiflette, perfect after a day on the slopes.
Make sure you scroll down past the photos to see all sorts of cool videos about the Savoy region and the Alps!
My favorite corner of le Savoie is Annecy, a city nestled in the mountains on a crystal clear lake, complete with its own castle! Check it out here:
A very cool look at Mont Blanc, the 2nd tallest peak in Europe:

Not far from Annecy, you can visit the Gorges du Fier, a beautiful gorge in a canyon that you can walk along on a narrow footbridge.
For all my foodies out there, here is a quick view (on the left) of one dish from this area called la blanquette, which is a veal stew unique to this region as well as Savoyard fondue (on the right):
And finally, you can't think of this area without thinking of the St. Bernard dog, which comes from these mountains:
