Showcase

Showcase Planning

After the production week, our sessions were dedicated to planning the showcase that would present our films and conclude the academy.

There was a lot of roles to be designated, such as ushers, hosts, producer, social media etc. We also had to decide whether we wanted to open the event to the public and, if we did, how we would broadcast this.

We knew that the event would be hosted at Hyde Park Picture House, so we began to form a timetable on what we could do in the allocated time. This resulted in suggestions like, Q & A, montages, talks as well as the screenings.

I volunteered myself for the role of host as I wanted to push my confidence. This meant that I had to form a script on what I have to say when introducing segments and saying the thank-yous at the end.

The Showcase

We held the showcase in the Hyde Park Picture House in front of our friends and family and for 45 minutes from 10 to 10.45.

As well as producing the film, organising and fulfilling this even also took a lot of teamwork. We had to make sure that everyone was comfortable with their role and knew what they were doing on the day. A lot of the team members needed good communication for their role, directing people to their seats and solving problems that arose.

One challenge that arose was between myself and the camera operators. The lights didn't go up at the required time so we needed to co-ordinate my introduction of the films around this. We also had to remain positive and help each other when it was needed.
