During PREP each team rotates and attends a series of talks highlighting key areas for success as an engineering student. Each PREP student will attend small breakout groups with the speakers listed below. Beyond PREP students will continue to work with each speaker as they progress through their studies.

One Minute Madness

In this fun and interactive session you'll create a bio that you can use for professional purposes that highlights both your previous accomplishments and what you plan to achieve in the future. You'll be surprised at how easy it is and what a difference it makes!
Teaming By Design
Presented by Sarah L. Beckman & Rachel
Sara Beckman has spent her years as a boundary spanner at UC Berkeley, where she has held faculty appointments in both the Haas School of Business and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. She served as Chief Learning Officer for the newly formed Jacobs Institute of Design Innovation and facilitated the creation of a multi-disciplinary Certificate in Design Innovation. She teaches courses such as Collaborative Innovation which integrates Art Practice, Theater and Dance Performance Studies and Business perspectives on both collaboration and innovation. We are excited to partner with Dr. Beckman as she teaches our students the fundamentals of team formation so that they can employ these strategies during PREP and beyond.

Berkeley's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology offers students an opportunity to learn from experts in their fields, as well as their classmates, and address real-world problems through hands-on group projects. Students have the chance to build networks, learn how to start and grow their own start up, and strengthen transferrable skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. The mindsets and skills introduced in SCET classes prepare students to become innovative leaders in their industry, jobs or ventures regardless of the field.

Did you know that improvisation is not only used in acting classes but is also by those hoping to make better connections in school and work? Join PREP Emerald Zachary Douglas as he introduces you to the world of improv where you will not only have fun but also learn the fundamentals of improv that will assist you in a variety of settings. This workshop will teach you about mindfulness, how to become a better listener, and how to make better connections with those you meet.
