What did PREP 2018 think of....
"DeWeese is very into what he does and has fantastic understanding of the material, but unfortunately his lecture style is a little fast for most, which takes away from the effectiveness of his teaching (this is in part thanks to the amount of material in the course). His tests and homework are definitely fair and can be studied for using the ample material he provides in my opinion. "
-Connor, Team Ruby
"Lectures sometimes felt sparatic, would sometimes go off on tangents. Lectures even got behind schedule as we got towards the end. Did learn some material through lectures. Exams were pretty/very difficult, but there is always one question that feels way harder than the others. Homework is taken from the textbook, which is nice. He's very passionate about physics, which made the presentation of it more palatable. Excellent artist, made the pictures on exams pleasing to the eye. Demos were a fun spectacle. "
-Tyler, Team Ruby
"For our year the exams were very fair and straightforward. What bothered me about the class was when I was going over his exams from previous years there were a few questions that straight up had a missing variable that he made up in his solutions. His solutions are also very hard to understand and the GSI’s tend to make mistakes when grading the tests so be on the lookout for regrade requests "
-Tristan, Team Ruby
"Compared to the other professor of the semester Bordel who I've heard was very mathematical base in the exams, Deweese was strictly conceptual physics. The midterms and finals were all very tough, but just be sure to prioritize on studying through practice problems "
-Kaye, Team Ruby
"Professor deweese's lecture rely on you having read the lecture material ahead of class time. he goes through examples rather quickly and can be hard to follow sometimes. overall, a great attitude and a positive guy with a great sense of humor."
-Natalie, Team Diamond
"Lectures aren’t useful in the sense that, while his demos are helpful, I personally preferred studying off of the textbook. He has a spastic way of teaching and explaining concepts.
I’ve heard good things about Bordel. "
-Ian, Team Emerald
"He goes off on a tangent a lot during lectures. Sometimes his lectures get really confusing. His tests were hard but were quite interesting. "
-Monet, Team Emerald
"He was cool. Kinda fast paced in lecture and he had the hardest tests but was also generous with the curve. "
-Jacky, Team Ruby
"While tests were difficult, deweese was pretty nice "
-Anonymous, Team Emerald
"Professor Bordel genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her exams (2 midterms and the final) ranged from being concept-heavy to derivation-heavy. If you take Professor Bordel, be sure to brush up on the concepts she emphasizes in class and read through the Physics 7A textbook because the examples and questions she asked, were taken from our textbook. "
-Kristie, Team Diamond
"The exams were fair. The questions in them were reflective of what we had studied and learned in class. My only complaint was that Bordel could have made the class more engaging and informative. Her lectures would often feel dry. "
-Edgar, Team Sapphire
"Passionate, lenient grading. Heavy emphasis on calculus. "
-Lizzette, Team Emerald
What did PREP 2019 think of....
"I consider him to be a great, funny, and knowledgeable professor, but unfortunately his style of teaching did not go well with me. There were some classes were we spent the entire lecture trying to prove a formula and it wasn't exactly helpful for learning how to apply it. He would also just go from topic to topic without a proper introduction, in my opinion. " - Valeria, Team Ruby
"He is a really nice professor but can get really confusing with his notes on the chalkboard that made it hard to follow through the entire lecture. I would recommend reading through the topics that are going to be covered in class beforehand as it will help with making sense of the examples that he tackles (a lot of time with minimal background explanation). " - Shotaro, Team Diamond
"He's nice and his lectures cover the material, but I was always confused because he kind of assumed people knew some things beforehand and didn't give enough context sometimes " - Daniel, Team Emerald
"Zettl engaged with the class very well and made it interesting. His lectures were really helpful and gave plenty of examples. The choice of hw was also great in helping us practice physics problems that were similar to the discussion problems. " - Daniel, Team Ruby
"Lectures are sometimes boring and not helpful but he gives a lot of practice material. " - Kaitlyn, Team Ruby
"Nice Professor but does not post previous or practice exams which made it difficult to prepare for exams. " - Chernelle, Team Emerald
"Professor is a GOD, hands down the best professor I have taken yet. He is super chill, he is literally the reincarnation of Albert Einstein. " - Alex, Team Ruby
