What did PREP 2018 and 2019 think of...
"Professor was cool. Nice, funny guy. Good handwriting. Didn't have any practice exams which made it harder to study " - Jacky, Team Ruby, PREP 2018
"Overall good. Was not boring during lecture and was engaging with students. " - Monet, Team Emerald, PREP 2018
"Great professor. Would definitely recommend. Made lectures very engaging. Would often play his guitar for us. Midterms and finals were very reasonable. Overall amazing experience. " - Edgar, Team Sapphire, PREP 2018
"Midterms were hard but reasonable but not the final. IClickers are used for attendance so don't waste it, and do well on the homework. " - Kaye, Team Ruby, PREP 2018
"Professor Geissler made Chem1A very enjoyable; his clear lectures and fair exams enabled me to view the subject of chemistry with newfound enthusiasm. " - Kristie, Team Diamond, PREP 2018
"Very nice and good at teaching " - Uriel, Team Ruby, PREP 2018
"Clear and engaging lectures! " - Chernelle, Team Emerald, PREP 2019
"His lectures are very organized and he’s helpful during office hours. " - Kaitlyn, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"Keeps his class entertaining with various experiments and guitar performance that you don't want to miss! He also prepares his chalk boards well before hand that makes the lectures really fast paced. " - Shotaro, Team Diamond, PREP 2019
"He is an amazing lecturer. I love his notes, singing, and experiments. I will say I didn't feel that he was very clear when it came to explaining/answering my questions when I went into office hours. " - Ofelia, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"The professor was fair, although the manner in which the grading of the class was structured was odd. As long as you study you’ll do fine. Also, since last semester was his first time teaching the class, he didn’t have any practice exams so hopefully he will now. Before, we had to simply practice using what the GSI gave us. " - Ian, Team Emerald, PREP 2018
"Professor Stacy has a “interactive” teaching style, I and many other students I talked to did not like this teaching style because she does not do a a good job at teaching the material or making sure you know the material. This along with the fact that there isn’t a textbook for the class made it hard to find practice. She does have practice problems but they are full of mistakes that include questions with not enough information, incorrect answers, or are questions the GSI’s themselves do not know how to answer. If you have not taken chemistry before I would not advice taking this professor " - Tristan, Team Ruby, PREP 2018
"Her class is 'interactive', which means there are no in-person lectures or textbook, just discussion of assignments and concepts among other students, only some assistance from TA's, and online lectures (which weren't that helpful). TA's weren't that knowledgeable, and GSIs didn't feel very involved. This made conceptual learning especially difficult for me, and there wasn't much material in terms of practice. It felt very different from the 'interactive' format used during PREP. The only thing she curves is the grade ranges (i.e, 85 and up is an A, 70 and up is a B, etc). If you are passionate about chemistry and are self-taught, then this style might be for you. " - Tyler, Team Ruby, PREP 2018
"The professor's structure of the class is similar to high school, she WILL pass you though. She doesn't teach really, you are left to watch 30 minute lectures to understand the concepts. " - Alex, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"The professor focused on structuring the class similar to a high school setting which made it easier to ask questions and share opinions. However her way of teaching the material didn’t really reflect the exams we would take as the midterms and finals were harder than her coursework. " - Daniel, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"Really wants to interact with her students and makes the class interesting. Something that many didn’t like is the fact that the midterms and final were almost a surprise. " - Aylin, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"Honestly, she is the sweetest! She is easy to approach to and loves to do demos! " - Valeria, Team Ruby, PREP 2019
"Didn’t enjoy the teaching style " - Anonymous, Team Emerald, PREP 2018
