E-RESERVES

Course Reserve materials are provided online via UC Berkeley's in-house controlled digital lending platform - UC BEARS (UC Berkeley Electronic and Accessible Reserves System). Digitization of books in copyright requires access restrictions. Hence, UC BEARS books can be checked out virtually for 2 hours (more if not checked out by another patron) and no downloading or printing. Per terms of controlled digital lending - while a digital version is available for us, the print version also cannot be used in-house or checked out (physical items designated for UC BEARS will live at Moffitt for the term period/until no longer part of the UC BEARS program).

There are a couple of ways patrons can access these materials:

UC Library Search

If activate, the record for an item in UC Library Search will have direct links to the item in UC BEARS (CalNet Authentication required).

Spreadhseet/Email a Patron Form

Use the following documents to retrieve the URL and email using the online email a patron form (CalNet Authentication required).

Please note that some e-reserves titles are actually eBooks from publishers. These are not included in the mirrored site. If a student asks about a reserve title and it does not appear on the UC BEARS list, please search UC Library Search to see if there's an eBook.
