TAKING THE PAGING REQUESTS
Check for the "library book scan eligible " note in the patron record. If not, send students to the DSP office. If they are faculty, instructors, or visiting scholars, then please ask them to complete this request form.
If books are present, proceed to the Processing Books for Scan instructions below.
If books are not present, place items on search:
Go to the CIRCSUP/MAINSCAN account by typing in the barcode: MAINSCAN
Place a request on the item in question (Look up the book, request type patron physical item request, pickup location Main Circulation) with this hold note : "[date] send to digital imaging lab for patron [insert patron ID number]"
If you check-in a book for CIRCSUP/MAINSCAN, place on the MAIN-SCAN shelf directly across the “To Be Intershelved” shelf.
PROCESSING THE BOOKS FOR SCAN
Check to make sure there is not excessive underlining in the given copy of the book. If there is, see if there is another copy, and apply steps (3-7) to that item, rather than the one in your hand.
Go to the CIRCSUP/MAINSCAN patron account by typing in the barcode: MAINSCAN
Place a request on the item in question (pick up location = Main Circulation) with this hold note: "[date] send to digital imaging lab for patron [insert patron ID number]"
Check in items to fulfill holds.
Please replace the hold on the original patron's account if that is requested. Some patrons like having the physical books in addition to the scanned files.
Place items on the Main Scan shelf across from the MAIN Hold shelf. If you are at MOFFITT and you can't run the items over to MAIN, then place the items on the MAIN Snag Truck, and include a green snag slip.
PROCESSING THE BOOKS PAGED AND ON HOLDSHELF FOR PATRON
A patron may call the circulation number and ask to send books to be scanned which the DSP patron (students, faculty, instructors, and visiting scholars only) has already paged via Oskicat. First, check for the "library book scan eligible" note in their patron record.
Find all their books on the hold shelf by viewing their holds in Alma.
Check to see if there are other holds for other patrons on their items. If so, you will need to write down the patron's' name who have holds on them, making sure to note the pick up locations they have selected.
Cancel all other holds on the books.
Place a request (Pick up location = Main Circulation) for CIRCSUP/MAINSCAN patron record (barcode: MAINSCAN), with this hold note: "[date] send to digital imaging lab for patron [insert patron ID number]"
Check in books to fulfill holds.
If the note on the original holdslip says "LSP plus hold" which stands for Library Scanning Program plus hold, then please replace the hold on the original patron's account as well. Some patrons like having the physical books in addition to the scanned files.
Place items on the Main Scan shelf across from the MAIN Hold shelf. If you are at MOFFITT and you can't run the items over to MAIN, then place the items on the MAIN Snag Truck, and include a green snag slip.
